When it comes to applying your custom hard hat stickers to your helmets you want to be sure they are applied correctly, especially if they are used for safety requirements.

At Graphic Solutions we recommend you use a clearer such as soap and water with a cotton soft microfiber cloth. Spray the soapy water on the hard had and begin rubbing the hard hat in a circular motion until you have completely covered the entire area of the hard had. Once clean, try your best not to touch the area of the hard hat where you will be applying the decal as this may leave an oily residue on the hard hat making the decal begin to peel once applied.

Once cleaned, it is time to apply the decals to your hard hats. It is more complicated than just peeling a sticker from its surface and slapping it on. With the helmet being rounded and curved it creates wrinkles from within your decals making them begin to peel. Once they begin to peel, dirt and debris will collect under the adhesive surface of the decal making the decal begin to peel off from the helmet. So how do you apply the hardhat decals to the helmets without them peeling right back off?

Instead of simply peeling and sticking the decals to the helmet you want to apply the decal to the helmet from the center out. Usually when you peel and stick a sticker, you peel it from the corner and then slap it onto the paper. However with helmets (because they are a round and curved surface), you want to put pressure on the decal at the center. Once you have applied a small amount of pressure to the center of your decal the outer edges of the decal should be floating in mid air above the surface of the helmet. At this point you want to look at your helmet from all angles to check and make sure the decal is rotated and positioned the right angle from left to right and from top to bottom on the surface of the helmet.

Next you want to have someone put the helmet on their head so you can see the angle the helmet will be worn and what angle the decal will be displayed at. Once you have confirmed you your decal has been applied to the helmet at the right angle in the right position then it is time to permanently apply the decal to the helmet. Begin rubbing the decal in a circular motion from the center of the decal out to the outer edges of the decal. This will ensure that the decal is applied to the helmet with the least amount of wrinkles in the end as you work your way to the edges.
