
In the print, promotion, marketing, and creative world, we take a lot of definitions for granted. From time to time it’s helpful to call a time out and reexamine the definitions, functions, and motivations behind the terms we use.
So today we start with “Promotional Products”.
WHAT
When we hear the phrase we all think of something - a coffee mug, a cheap pen, maybe if you’re old-school even a mouse pad? The PPAI(Promotional Products Association International) defines them like this:
Promotional products—usually imprinted with a company's name, logo or message—include useful or decorative articles of merchandise that are utilized in marketing and communication programs. Imprinted products that are distributed free are called advertising specialties. Imprinted items given as an incentive for a specific action are known as premiums. Business gifts, awards and commemoratives are also considered promotional products.
